TechMark Announces Vice President of Business Development

Houston, TX -   TechMark International is pleased to announce the recent addition of George Kelley, who will join the team as Vice President of Business Development, effective immediately.   George’s proven background of international sales and marketing experience in the field of channel development as well as his overall senior level of experience will help ensure TechMark continues to grow at a record pace, allowing the company to strengthen its position within the North and South American industrial markets.

George Kelley has been involved in the electrical, controls and industrial automation industries for over forty years. In his first entrepreneurial venture, he led a successful sales representative company that focused on the automotive and construction markets in West Michigan where he was elected by his peers as President of the local NEMRA chapter.  During this period, he was instrumental in the early introduction of Programmable Logic Control (PLC) products to major users and OEM customers working with Texas Instruments and Modicon.

This experience with sales channel development and early digital automation controls lead him to join GE Factory Automation where he eventually became the International Sales Manager.   Here he created distribution channels in Latin America, Canada, Australia, Asia and the Middle East.  In this position, he was among a select few involved in the negotiation of the Joint Venture between GE and FANUC Ltd, which later became GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms.

When GE corporate decided to pull resources from secondary markets this presented an opportunity that resulted in the formation of Automation International Ltd. (AIL). Mr. Kelley and a partner were given the exclusive distribution rights for the GEFanuc PLC products for the entire Latin American market. Within four years AIL became the largest single point distributor for GEFanuc in the world.  During this time as V.P. of Marketing Sales he was responsible for development of distribution channels and managing the direct sales force as well as all marketing functions.  He was also responsible for product line expansion and vendor relations.  Under his leadership, AIL’s product portfolio expanded to include Industrial sensors, HMI’s, Industrial Computers, finite measurement controls and other factory automation products many which soon became the market leaders. This prowess was recognized by the U.S. Department of Commerce which awarded AIL the President’s E-Award for Export Excellence in 2009 – a prestigious distinction awarded to only 16 companies in the entire United States.

In 2011 he “retired” from AIL and sold his interests to the remaining partner to focus on his next challenge.  TechMark is pleased to welcome him to the team and look forward to his assistance to become a premier supplier of oil field automation equipment throughout North and South America.
